Serengeti National Park Entrance Fees 2025-2026
Tanzania is a thriving tour destination in East Africa, famous for a variety of attractions, from the thundering hooves of the Great Migration to the absolute ‘queen’ of peaks, Mount Kilimanjaro. Before setting out on your adventure, though, it’s essential to understand safari costs, especially park fees. In short, these are fees that every visitor pays to access Tanzania’s national parks and game reserves. With safari planning, comes an important aspect: knowing the costs. Park fees are charges that visitors have to pay during their safari. How much are park fees? And how long do they last? Here’s everything you need to know before you go.
How much are Serengeti national park entry fees for 2025/2026?
In Tanzania, the park fee structure may be updated every July. An official document displaying the fees is released by the respective authorities. For national parks, all payments are charged by the Tanzania Parks Authority (TANAPA) and for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) assumes this responsibility, not TANAPA.
Important note
It’s TANAPA’s role to update park fees every year. But there have been no changes in park fees since the 2023/2024 season. That means, they apply to up to date. (July has passed and still changes). Therefore, don’t be surprised if you visit the TANAPA website and find no updated fees. It is worth noting that Focus East Africa Tours will help you with handling park fees and we strive to provide the best and most reliable information out there.

Before we dive in, it’s worth taking a look at some terms. To begin with, the term “expatriate” will appear more frequently. Who is an expatriate? This is a foreign citizen living in Tanzania with a legal work permit or visa. These individuals are sometimes referred to as foreign residents. EA residents are all people living in the East African Community (EAC), implying citizens of Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, and the DR Congo. Non EA residents refer to all foreign visitors.

How much does a Serengeti safari cost?
That question is still hard to answer. But with the knowledge of park fees, we can at least compute the estimated cost. If you plan to spend one day in the Serengeti, then you’re obliged to pay $154 for concession and entrance fees. So, the cost of a Serengeti safari can be rounded to $650 per day, including game drives, meals, and serengeti national park fees. Extra charges apply if you embark on other activities, such as walking safaris, balloon safaris, etc. If that price is too high for you, we suggest you share it with a friend or colleague.
