This 10 Days Uganda Safari takes you on an exploration adventure in Uganda, the pearl of Africa. This safari starts in Kampala heading to Murchison Falls National Park, then to Kibale Forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and finally Lake Mburo National Park.

Detailed Itinerary of 10 Days Uganda Safari

Day 1: Head to Murchison Falls National Park – Stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Visit the top of the falls

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport or after breakfast at your hotel in Entebbe, you will meet your guide and embark on a journey to Murchison Falls National Park – the largest national park in Uganda.

Along the way you will have a visit at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where you will be tracking rhinos on foot, this is the only place where you will see the last remaining rhinos in Uganda. After your amazing experience, you will have lunch in Masindi Town and proceed to Murchison Falls National Park. Head straight to the top of Murchison Falls where you will watch River Nile squeezing through a narrow gorge before dropping in a thunderous roar leaving behind a permanent rainbow.

Day 2: Game drive and a Boat cruise along the Nile

Have early breakfast, meet your guide and head to the park for an early morning game drive, expect to see various animals such as lions, giraffes, hyenas, elephants, several antelopes among others. Return to the lodge for lunch and a short rest.

In the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise along the River Nile, expect to see hippos, crocodiles, elephants, waterbucks and various water bird species. The boat ends at the bottom of the falls hence offering you different view of Murchison Falls National Park. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest – Visit the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary

Leave for Kibale Forest National Park after breakfast, this long journey will take you through the beautiful scenery and countryside of Uganda, by passing small towns, districts, rivers, lakes, forests and local people as they do their normally business and tending to their farms.

Have lunch in Fort Portal before continuing your journey to your lodge, after check-in and a short rest. Head to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided nature walk, lookout for several primate species and birds.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale – Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Have early breakfast, meet your guide and head to the park headquarters for briefing conducted by a senior ranger guide. After taking you through the rules and regulations to follow, head into the forest looking for our closest relatives. The trek takes approximately 30 minutes to 6 hours or more depending on the movement of the chimpanzees and where they spent their previous night.

Day 5: Morning Game drive – Launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel

Wake up for breakfast and head to the park for a morning gam drive along the Kasenyi Track for opportunities to spot buffaloes, lions, elephants, buffaloes, hyenas and the occasional leopard.

After the thrilling game drive, head back to your lodge for a full meal and short rest. In the afternoon you will go for an afternoon boat cruise at the Kazinga Channel starting at 2:00 pm, the channel connects Lake Edward to Lake George and has one of the highest concentration of hippos in Africa.

Day 6: Nature Walk in Maramagambo forest and the Kyambura Gorge

Enjoy breakfast, meet your guide and head to Maramagambo Forest for a guided walk, allowing you to observe birds, primates, moths, pythons and bats calling the forest home.

Later in the afternoon, you will visit the famous Kyambura Gorge – an underground forest formed millions of years ago. The gorge has a forest inside and is home to an incredible collection of birds and mammals, chimpanzees are a key attraction in the gorge but you can also spot hippos, elephants and small primates inside the gorge.

Day 7: Game drive to see tree climbing lions – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Depart Queen Elizabeth National Park for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Ishasha Sector where you will see the tree climbing lions lounging on fig trees and other animals like Uganda Kobs, elephants, buffaloes and many other species of primates.

Arrive in Bwindi in late afternoon, check in, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Gorilla Tracking – Visit the Batwa in Bwindi

Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park for gorilla trekking experience, you will have briefing at the park office about the rules and regulations about how to behave while in the forest. Enter into the forest looking for mountain gorillas, the trek takes approximately 2 hours to 6 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas. You are allocated only 1 hour of being in the presence of the gorillas watching them go on with their life.

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park – Afternoon boat cruise

After breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and embark on a journey to Lake Mburo National Park, the journey takes you through the rolling hills of Kisoro also known as the “Switzerland of Africa”. Expect to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the terraced hills, valley and vast banana plantations.

Have lunch in Mbarara and continue to the park, arrive in time for a 2-hour boat cruise on Lake Mburo to see several water birds, hippos, zebras, crocodiles and most of the park animal’s drinking water or bathing by the shores.

Day 10: Morning game drive – Return to Kampala or Entebbe

Today marks the last day of your safari, meet your guide and go for a morning game drive on which you will see various animals including impalas, hyenas, buffaloes, impalas, giraffes, warthogs and leopards among others.

After the game drive, you will embark on a journey to Kampala with a stopover at the Equator for photos, you will be dropped off at the airport or your hotel bringing your safari to an end.
