3 Days Congo Gorilla Trekking Safari is a short adventurous safari package offering mountain gorilla trekking experience in Congo’s Virunga national park, since there are no international flights straight to the Democratic of Congo this safari begins from Kigali the capital city of Rwanda and accessed using Kigali international airport. Then head to Congo with border crossing then head to Goma, this safari also ends in Kigali.

Detailed itinerary of the safari

Day 1: transfer from Kigali to Goma

The 1st day of 3 days Congo gorilla safari is transferring from Kigali to Goma, upon arrival our company’s driver/guide will pick up, give you a short briefing about the safari then to Kigali city for a short city tour if time allows. On the city tour you will visit the genocide memorial site, main city market, artisan shops for buying souvenirs, after the city tour you will have lunch then set off on a journey to Congo border. After crossing the border in Goma you will head to Grande barrier tourism offices to complete all necessary documentation then head to Bukima, check into your lodge and stay overnight.

Accommodation is got from kibumba tented camp, Mikeno lodge or Bukima tented camp

Day 2: mountain gorilla trekking experience

The 2nd day of 3 days Congo gorilla safari is for enjoying the mountain gorilla trekking experience, after early morning breakfast you will meet your safari driver and head to the park’s headquarters for briefing session. In this session rules and regulations to be followed on this experience will be ready to you by a senior ranger then head into the forests of Virunga national park in search for mountain gorillas, locating these mountain gorillas takes about 2-5 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. you are allowed only 1 hour to stay in presence of mountain gorillas while taking pictures and interacting with the gorillas. Then you will hike back to the park’s headquarters meet your safari guide and head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Caution: When taking pictures in presence of mountain gorillas please switch off your camera’s flashlight.

Day 3: transfer back to Kigali for a flight back home

The 3rd day of 3 days Congo gorilla safari is for transferring back to Kigali for a flight back home, after early morning breakfast you will have meet your safari driver, checkout of your lodge and set off on a drive back to Kigali including crossing the border. In Kigali, you will have lunch and then be dropped off at Kigali international airport to catch your flight back home.
