DETAILED ITINERARY OF 5 DAYS GORILLAS AND CHIMPANZEES SAFARI
Day 1: transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park
To mark the start of the 5 days gorilla and chimpanzees safari, you will be picked up by our safari driver guide from Focus East Africa Tours. After a brief briefing you will set off on a journey to Bwindi impenetrable Forest national park, on your way you will make stopovers at the Equator crossing for photography, a brief talk and experiment then head to Mbarara town where you will have lunch. You will then proceed to Bwindi impenetrable national park driving past beautiful banana plantations and the amazing Hills of Kigezi. You will arrive in the park in the evening, check into your lodge and stay overnight.

Day 2: gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable national park
Have early morning breakfast and after, your guide will drive you to the park’s headquarters for briefing where you will be given an insight in the rules and regulations to follow during gorilla trekking. After the briefing, you will hike into the forests of Bwindi in search for mountain gorillas which takes about 3-7 hours depending on the location of mountain gorilla family you are trekking and their movement. Once you find the gorillas you will be allowed to stay in their presence for one hour while observing their behaviour and taking pictures. Then you will descend back to the park’s headquarters to pick your gorilla trekking certificates, then you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Kibale National park
After breakfast, you will checkout of your lodge and embark on a drive to Kibale National park through Queen Elizabeth national park where you will have chances of spotting tree climbing lions and other animals such as zebras, antelopes, leopards, elephants among others. You will also have an opportunity to cross the Equator at Kikolongo, you will also cross several rivers that originate from Mountain Rwenzori as you through Kasese district to Fort Portal.
A long the way, you will have a stopover in Fort Portal for lunch before proceeding to checking in at your hotel or safari lodge.

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale and Bigodi Wetland walk
After breakfast at the lodge or hotel, you will drive to Kibale National park headquarters for briefing about the Dos and Donts of chimpanzee tracking, after briefing you will grouped into small groups of 6 people headed by one guide. Then you will head into the forests of Kibale in search for chimpanzees, these primates live in groups of between 50 – 150 individuals but usually breakup into small parties during the day as a way reducing competition on food.
Once you located the chimps, you are allowed to spend one hour with the chimps taking pictures and witnessing their behavior. You will the return to the lodge for lunch, in the afternoon you will head to Bigodi Village for a wetland walk in the nearby Bigodi swamp where you will spot several species of primates such as black and white colobus monkeys, baboons and many birds. Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to Kampala / Departure
After breakfast, you will drive back to Kampala where you will be dropped off marking the end of 5 days gorilla and chimpanzee safari.
