This Intimate Uganda Safari starts from Entebbe, then head to the Tourist Town of Fort Portal, the Crater Lakes Region along your way to Kibale Forest National Park where you will track and spend some time watching the chimpanzees and other primates. Enjoy the spectacular views of the Mountains of the Moon -Rwenzori Mountains on your way to Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you will meet Africa’s Big Game including the rare tree climbing lions.

Detailed itinerary of 8 Days Classic Uganda Primates and Wildlife Safari
Day 1: Entebbe — Shoebill tracking
On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by our drive and transfer to your hotel within Entebbe for check-in. Depending on your arrival time, you will have a visit to botanical garden or Mabamba Swamps to meet the prehistoric shoebill. You can also take a quiet walk to the local markets or shop at the modern malls.

Day 2: Drive Entebbe to Lake Mburo – Game Drive
Enjoy an early breakfast and embark on a journey to Western Uganda across the landscape of central Uganda with vast cultivated plains, banana plantations and cattle farms. You will have en-route at Mpambire and watch the making of traditional and local artefacts. Have a stopover at the Equator for pictures at the landmark, you will have lunch at your lodge in Lake Mburo National Park after check-in.
In the afternoon, you will go for an afternoon game drive searching for wildlife including buffalo, impala, zebra, eland, warthogs and bushbucks. Also take a one- hour boat safari for sightings of crocodiles, hippos and plenty of water birds. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Lake Mburo to Bwindi (6hrs)
Enjoy breakfast and go for an early morning game drive in the park, then continue to Southwestern Uganda with scenic views of rolling hills, tea plantations, tropical rainforests and the majestic chain of the Virunga Volcanoes.
The journey will take you via Mbarara, Kabale towns before heading onto the 32-kilometer countryside dirt road to the park, arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking
Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park’s headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking, a ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow while with the gorillas in the forest.
In groups of 8 people, you will be assigned one of the habituated gorilla families to trek and head into the forests looking for mountain gorillas. Usually, the trek through the forests takes approximately 2 to 6 hours or more, when you find the gorilla family you are looking for. You will be permitted to spend in the presence of the gorillas while observing their behavior and taking pictures.
Return to the park’s headquarters to pick your gorilla certificates, then head either to your lodge or to the Batwa community for a cultural experience.
Have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 5: Hiking Across Bwindi Forest
Have breakfast, head back to the park for a hiking experience across Bwindi Forest. Th mystic Bwindi Jungle has many walking trials running from the Nkuringo South side to the Buhoma Visitor Center in the north. At the gates of the forest, you will forge your way through the forest with a local guide who will fill you with ancient tales and incredible forest knowledge which will bring you close to the forest.
During the walking safari, you will see some wild forest inhabitants like chimps, forest elephants, duikers, forest buffaloes among others.
At the end of the experience, you will meet your guide and head to back to your lodge for lunch. Then checkout and embark on your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park via the Ishasha Sector where you will catch sight of the incredible tree-climbing lions. You will be at your lodge in time for dinner.

Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park
Have early breakfast and head to the Kasenyi plains for game drive, as you drive on the Kasenyi tracks you will encounter animals like herds of elephants and buffaloes, many interesting antelope species such as Uganda kob, topi and bushbucks.
After lunch at your lodge, you will go for a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel. Cruise sets off at 14:00 and you will catch a sight of hippos and buffaloes in the waters of the channel and buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kob and waterbucks along the shores of the channel and many water birds in the swamps.
After the boat cruise, you will exit the park and embark on a journey to Kibale National Park, upon arrival you will check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale
Wake up early for breakfast and head to the Visitor centre by 07:30 am for briefing about chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest, Kibale Forest is known for the diversity and density of primates in Africa and is the best place to watch chimpanzees up-close in their natural setting.
After the briefing, you will enter into the Kibale Forest in search for chimpanzees, you will also catch sight of L’Hoest’s monkey, red colobus monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys and many bird species. When you find the chimpanzee group, you will be permitted to spend one hour in their presence observing their behavior in the forest, watch them play on tree branches, pick fruits among others.
After an amazing time with the chimpanzees, you will return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon you will head to the Bigodi Community for an interaction with the local people. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Drive from Kibale to Entebbe
After a lazy breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and embark on a journey back to Kampala through the gorgeous Fort Portal country with sights of Rwenzori Mountains.
When you arrive in Entebbe, you will be dropped off either at the hotel or at the airport for your flight back home.
