Detailed itinerary of 9 Days Wildebeest Migration Safari
Day 1: Nairobi – Arrival
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your personal guide, he will help you load your luggage in the vehicle and be driven to your hotel in Nairobi while admiring some of the sights (time permitting). Your guide will brief you on your itinerary en-route.

Day 2: Masai Mara
After breakfast, you will meet up with your guide and head off to Masai Mara. The drive will be about 5 to 6 hours. Head directly into the reserve for game viewing and then return to camp for late check-in or check-in first and then head out for an afternoon game drive.
Enjoy a box lunch while you travel. Head out on afternoon game drive in search of some wildlife including the Big Five – lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants and rhinos. Some wildlife is more difficult than others to spot, for instance the Leopard. These spotted cats blends almost seamlessly into the tall grass and shrubbery, and are more challenging to spot up in the favorite hangout, the trees.

Day 3 – 4: Masai Mara – Following the Migration
These two days are dedicated to following the Migration as it happens in the savannah plains of Masai Mara. After an early breakfast, journey deep into the Masai Mara to witness the breathtaking river crossings as wildebeests and zebras confront crocodile – infested waters on their relentless journey. You will be awed by the sheer power of this natural spectacle capturing unforgettable moments with your camera.
Enjoy a packed lunch in the reserve to maximize your time amidst the migrating herds. Continue to explore the reserve in the afternoon, with opportunities to witness predators stalking their prey within the migration.

Day 5: Masai Mara – Serengeti
With en-route game drive, depart for Serengeti National Park via the Isebania/Sirare border. You will complete all the necessary required border crossing formalities, then change into Tanzania vehicles and embark on a journey to Serengeti National Park. Along the way, you will enjoy en-route and continue to Serengeti arriving in the late afternoon. With en-route game drive you will proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Serengeti
After morning breakfast, you will head to the park for an early morning game drive. Serengeti is Tanzania’s oldest and most recognized National Park, the park offers the most expansive game viewing in Tanzania. From predators to prey, great herds of grazing herbivores to tactically cunning packs of carnivores, life on the plains of the Serengeti can be best defined as a complete “Circle of life”. A photographic dream unfolds before your eyes as giraffes and elephants feast on tasty shrubbery, whilst impalas, gazelles and buffaloes dance carefully through the plains as to not become the latest meal for on-looking predators, cheetahs and hyenas.
Spend the day taking in the spectacle of the famous Wildebeest Migration, this annual migration through the Serengeti and Masai Mara is one of the safari highlights of Africa.

Day 7: Serengeti – Ngorongoro
Enjoy breakfast and with en-route game drive, embark on a journey to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will depart Serengeti National Park at a somewhat slower pace as to get in some more game-viewing. An optional stop at the Olduvai Gorge is highly recommended, where Dr. Leakey and his wife discovered the remains of man. Visit the museum and see some of the showcased remains excavated in the Olduvai Gorge.
The massive Olduvai Gorge also known as Oldupai Gorge is often referred to as “The Cradle of Mankind”. Beginning in the eastern Serengeti plains, the gorge is roughly some 48 kilometers long. Resulting from millions of years of natural erosion, this gorge boasts a steep-sided ravine that cuts and stretches its way through the Great Rift Valley along eastern Africa.

Day 8: Ngorongoro – Tarangire
After breakfast, transfer to Tarangire National Park – one of the least visited park of the northern Tanzania game parks and remains undiscovered and famous for large herds of elephants and the iconic Baobab trees.
Tarangire National Park lies a little distance to the south east of Lake Manyara and covers an area of approximately 2,850 square kilometers, its swamps, tinged green year round, are the focus for 550 bird varieties, the largest number of species in one habitat anywhere in the world, on drier ground, the Kori bustard – the heaviest flying bird is sighted.
