Aberdare Cottages and Fishing Lodge is a 3-star rustic countryside lodge located on a 10-acre private farm in the Gacharageini Village in the Mathioya Murang’a County on the foothills of the Aberdare Mountains, only 10km from the spectacular Chinga Dam. The city of Nairobi is 125 km, 2.5 hour’s drive and one hour from the Aberdare National Park can be reached in 88km, a prestige royal cottage surrounded by the Aberdare National Park, the Mathioya River, small scale tea farm and their interlocking valleys and ridges. Offering the numerous attractions, relaxation in intact nature walks safari, waterfalls and a series of activities from hiking and cycling to boat riding and river swimming.
Aberdare Cottages is traditionally constructed using the reclaimed hard woods, sustainable and recycled materials, local skills and the rustic units are decorated in an African theme and feature a private entrance and deck that offers views of the river. It includes a shower, free toiletries and bed linen.
The accommodation comprises tented chalets, wooden chalets and eco-luxury Chalets overlooking the Mathioya and the Karaitho rivers. All the tented chalets and wooden chalets have a private romantic veranda overlooking the North Mathioya River and the lush mini forest. Each of these rooms has a modern en-suite bathroom with a flush toilet and hot shower. The Eco- Luxury Chalets are spacious, providing utmost comfort and relaxation with a modern feel. Each Chalet is tastefully furnished with single or double beds and African rustic furniture.

The Aberdare Cottages and Fishing lodge offers camping grounds at a very pocket friendly cost of Ksh 1000 per person per night, this is where the guests bring their own camping gear as well they can come a long with their tents and pitch them in the ground, the area is set up in the woods on the well-light grounds where they will be camping, without meals provided, here the guests can hire catering equipment and cater to their own meals or pick meals off the menu, the campers are always recommended to bring their enough drinking water just in case.
The onsite restaurant serves a wide range of the local and the continental delicacies. There is an open-air barbeque area that lends itself to a rustic ambiance and the guests can enjoy campfire meals and the unforgettable experience of African under the stars. Guests can enjoy a cocktail or a drink on the outdoor Karaitho bar and lounge overlooking the unique mini-forest and waterfall. Breakfast is also served at the lodge. The restaurant offers an a la carte and buffet menu and the guests can experience BBQ dinners upon request. There is a cozy fire where the guest can enjoy drinks as they do relax.
