Nairobi to Aberdare national park : Aberdare national park is located in the central Kenya 164 km from Nairobi. The Aberdare national park is part of the Aberdare mountain ranges. The national park was gazetted as a national park in 1950 mainly to offer the refuge to wildlife and the Aberdare mountain range. Aberdare national park sits between the elevation of 2000 meters and 4000 meters above the sea level and covers a total land area of 766 square kilometers which is comprised of the moorland, bamboo forests, deep V-shaped valleys intersected by the rivers, waterfalls, streams, rainforests and many more. The park was named after the Aberdare mountain range which is an isolated volcanic range that forms the eastern arm of the rift valley that extends up to 100 km north south Nairobi. Aberdare national park is best known as the site where in 1952, Princess Elizabeth found out she was Queen after she learned about the death of her father King George V1, whilst staying at the Treetops Hotel.

Road Transport. Aberdare national park is located 160km/100mi north of Nairobi and 20km/13mi southwest of Nanyuki. The drive from Nairobi to Aberdare national park takes about 2 and a half hours or 3 hours to the park.

The best route to access the park runs from the town of Naivasha and Nyahururu which covers a distance of 87 kilometers while passing through the beautiful slopes up to the moorland. After reaching the Aberdare national park the park has got two airstrips for both the scheduled and the charted that is Mweiga and Nanyuki airstrip which are located close to the Aberdare Park Kenya. Mweiga airstrip is located on opposite side of the park quarter close to Sasin Estate Farm along the Nyeru town to Nyahururu road.
