Packing List for a Kenya safari
Packing List for a Kenya safari : African safari is the most amazing moment that offers you unforgettable safari experience. It is important on a first-time safari to make sure you pack the right clothes to make you relaxed on your time in the bush, so this is a little post to help you out with your packing!
Tops.
Bring only a few safari tops laundry service on safari is very good, and if you put a top in the laundry in the morning the camp will return it by the time you are back from your evening drive. For a safari, t-shirts are an excellent choice, and neutral colors are advised to fit in with the environment. Avoid black and blue if you are visiting areas with Tsetse flies as these colors attract them. Therefore, three t-shirts should be sufficient for a weeklong safari.
You will need a few layers (depending on when and where you are going!) as it can get pretty chilly in the evenings and on early morning game drives. One or two thin long-sleeved tops and one or two jumpers, I would advise. For early morning game drives, it can also be a fantastic idea to include a windproof jacket to keep everyone warm. Ask us for packing recommendations for your specific country though. Also don’t forget to bring a few different outfits for evenings and also beach time if that applies to you.
Bottoms.
Pack several long pants: a few neutral, comfy pairs for game drives and additional pairs for dinners in the evening. Even though it’s not necessary to dress up for dinners on safari, it’s usually a good idea to pack a change of clothes, especially after a particularly dusty game drive.
Shoes.
You will require a decent pair of walking shoes if you plan to embark on a walking safari. Don’t forget to break them in before you arrive! There’s nothing more unpleasant than blisters ruining an exquisite walk in the woods. You should also consider bringing some comfortable and breathable shoes for walking around camp in the day time. If you plan to include some beach time with your safari, don’t forget your flip-flops.
Essentials.
A few key add-ons will enhance your safari experience even further.
Bring your nice camera if you have one! You will likely never have a vacation as picturesque as a safari, therefore it would be a shame to pass up this chance to take some amazing pictures.
It’s crucial to catch the action far away because if you don’t have a decent pair, you can miss it. Binoculars are particularly essential for birdwatchers.
And a hat is a smart idea. For sunny game drives, a cap or sun hat is a terrific idea. Just make sure it fits your head properly, though, as there’s always a chance that the open-sided cars will blow it away.
Swimming suit or bikini: If you plan to visit the beach as well as the lodge, packing a swimsuit or bikini is highly recommended if the lodge has a pool.
Underwear… Easy drying underwear is a good idea. It’s common for safari lodges to require hand washing of undergarments, so it’s a good idea to have some that can be quickly dried.
Sports bra! The roads can be uneven, so even if you have no other plans but wildlife drives, bring along a few extras to ensure you are comfortable.
